From behind tinted windows,
Invisible to the lingering wrong ‘uns that seem to stare right at me.
Been busy?
When did you start?
What time do you think that you’ll call it a night?
Do you think there’s time to drive to the seaside and watch the sunrise over the ocean and feel some emotion?
I’ve got a promotion, but we don’t have to use it, friend, if you choose to keep cruising to Southend.
Let’s get breakfast, eggs to go in the Lexus, and petrol from Texaco.
We’re parked on a beach, it’s a lovely treat, I think we’re facing east, at least.
No sign of the sun yet, but I’m having fun.
The dark’s getting slightly lighter,
As bright as back to black, and highly grey skies, as night turns more dayer.
Clunking perfect wipers swipe the rain and sea spray.
You can take any bridge you want, as long as you get me south of the river.
